Based on UNAIDS recommendations, Kazakhstan has approved a plan to implement the 95-95-95 strategy until 2030. The first step is for 95% of people living with HIV to know their status.
The Center for the Prevention and Control of AIDS in Shymkent conducted training for specialists from state and non - state medical organizations in the city, as well as the non - governmental organization, the NGO “Ai - ana”, to improve the quality of rapid testing for HIV.
The purpose of the event: training in the implementation and evaluation of the results of rapid testing, 4th generation tests for HIV, using capillary blood, as well as in the technology of recovery and testing of control samples dried in test tubes (BPO/DTS) for responsible employees for rapid testing for HIV in all medical organizations, regardless of ownership.
During the training, diagnostic laboratory specialist S. D. Smetova presented the methodology for conducting and interpreting the results of express testing for HIV. She showed an example of various (positive, negative, invalid) results of express testing for HIV, and conducted practical classes on conducting and evaluating the results of express testing for HIV.
In addition, information was provided on the external assessment of quality control of HIV testing, stages of laboratory testing: pre - analytics (rules and technique for blood collection, storage, transportation, filling out the accompanying document, storing rapid tests and consumables, personal protective equipment (PPE)), analytics (performing the rapid testing procedure, evaluating and interpreting the results); post - analytics (filling out the log, in accordance with Order No. 6 of January 26, 2022 "On Amendments to Certain Orders of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan", recording the results in the log, issuing the results, proper waste disposal and storage of blood samples); written instructions (SOPs); external assessment of quality control according to BPO/DTS.
The head of the consultative and diagnostic laboratory of the city maternity hospital, K. Asanalieva, who took part in the training, expressed her gratitude:
