In the south of the region there are natural foci (local distribution) of particularly dangerous infectious diseases such as plague, cholera, Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever, anthrax, and malaria. Warm climate, steppe zones, livestock fields, local flora and fauna also contribute to the reproduction and widespread distribution of carriers and pathogens.
A seminar on the topic of “Prevention of especially dangerous infectious diseases” was held at the Shymkent AIDS Center with the participation of L. M. Atovullaeva, a specialist from the Shymkent Anti-Plague Station.
The purpose of the seminar: to familiarize the center's specialists with sanitary and epidemiological requirements for the organization and implementation of sanitary and anti-epidemic measures to prevent infectious diseases (plague, cholera), to explain emergency measures when registering cases of especially dangerous and quarantine infections in a medical and preventive institution, and to teach how to put on and take off an anti-plague suit.
During the seminar, L. M. Atovullaeva spoke about the clinical symptoms, mechanism and routes of transmission, measures to prevent particularly dangerous infections - causes of illness and death of people, as well as about the transmission of infection from natural sources - rodents, small mammals, birds, arthropods, blood-sucking insects and ticks to humans.
Attention was drawn to the emergency response plan in the event of registration of particularly dangerous and quarantine infections in a medical organization, and practical techniques for putting on and taking off a type 1 anti-plague suit and type 4 anti-cholera clothing were demonstrated.
Also, at the request of specialists, L. M. Atovullaeva showed how to put on protective clothing, preferably using the left hand (for left-handers).
Head of the Department of Preventive Work of the AIDS Center U. S. Baidildayeva emphasized the importance of this event:
- "The fight against especially dangerous infections is a pressing problem not only in the field of medicine, but also in all areas of society. Therefore, each doctor, in accordance with the operational plan and notification scheme, in the event of registration of a patient with suspected especially dangerous and quarantine infections, must provide the necessary medical care, with full implementation of preventive and sanitary-anti-epidemic measures."
